Intimate Groups

When was the last time someone asked you these questions:

  1. Have you been a testimony this week to the greatness of JesusChrist with both your words and actions?
  2. Have you been exposed to sexually alluring material or allowed your mind to entertain inappropriate sexual thoughts about another this week?
  3. Have you lacked integrity in your financial dealings or coveted something that does not belong to you?
  4. Have you been honoring, understanding and generous in your important relationships this week?
  5. Have you damaged another person by your words, either behind their back or face-to-face?
  6. Have you given in to an addictive behavior this past week? Explain.
  7. Have you continued to remain angry toward another?
  8. Have you secretly wished for another’s misfortune so that you might excel?

These quotes come from a book titled Cultivating a Life for God 1. It is one of the books we use in our intimate group settings. Intimate groups consist of 2 or 3 people. The purposes of these groups are discipleship, personal growth, and a high degree of accountability. The phrase and concept of “one another” appears at least 100 times in the New Testament alone. We are commanded to love one another, encourage one another, bear one another’s burdens, rebuke one another, etc. In other words, if we want to experience the fullness of the Christian journey through life, we must be in intimate spiritual relationships.

Presently, we have several of these Intimate Group experiences available. Here is a brief description of each one:

  1. One to One discipleship: This is a 9-session curriculum that explores the basic doctrines of Christianity. A person who has already been discipled through this course should disciple someone else through it.
  2. Love is a choice: This is a 20-session curriculum that explores how we make decisions. This intimate group can consist of one experienced leader and no more than two other people. Its goal is to learn how to identify unhealthy decision making patterns, avoid making bad decisions, and making good decisions.
  3. Life Transformation: This can consist of 2 or 3 people. It is primarily an accountability experience where the group holds one another accountable for holy thinking and behaving. During each meeting, the group asks each other all of the above questions.
  4. Spiritual Formation: This group will explore maintaining a balanced spiritual life. It will study and practice the major traditions of historical Christianity (Contemplative, Evangelical, Charismatic, Holiness, Social Justice). This group will consist of 2 or 3 people and have a high degree of intimacy and accountability.

If we sincerely desire to mature in our Christian walk, these types of experiences are an absolute must. If you are interested in participating in one of these experiences, please contact us.
